Mahamba #SAPS members arrested five suspects for possession and dealing in dagga during a stop-and-search operation conducted on the N2 Road near a Farm on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

At approximately 22:15, members who were conducting routine crime prevention duties stopped and searched a white Toyota Venture with KwaZulu-Natal registration number plates that was travelling towards Newcastle.

During the search of the vehicle, police discovered 15 rolls of dagga with a total weight of 25.5 kgs estimated to be worth over R153 000.00 in street value.

Five male suspects, aged between 30 and 34 years, were immediately arrested and charged accordingly.

The suspects are expected to appear at Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 22 May 2026, facing charges related to possession and dealing in dagga.

Police remain committed to intensifying operations aimed at combating drug trafficking and criminal activities within the Mahamba policing area.
