The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) continues to make significant strides in combating crime within the City of Johannesburg. On Saturday, 02 May 2026, officers from Region C Operations successfully apprehended two suspects and recovered a stolen vehicle and a substantial quantity of dagga during a routine patrol.

While conducting proactive “Stop and Search” operations, officers intercepted a white Renault Triber at the intersection of Ontdekkers Road and William Nicol Drive in Florida Park.

Upon inspection and profiling of the occupants and the vehicle, it was established that the Renault Triber was confirmed as stolen, linked to an SAPS Springs case. The vehicle has since been booked in at the SAPS Lenasia vehicle pound.

A search of the vehicle’s interior revealed eight black plastic bags containing suspected drugs (dagga) hidden on the back seat under a jacket.

Two male suspects were arrested at the scene. The driver was found to be a wanted suspect in connection with a SAPS Springs fraud case.

The duo has been detained at the Florida SAPS for further processing. Springs SAPS has been formally notified regarding the apprehension of the wanted suspect and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

The JMPD commends the arresting officers for their vigilance and dedication to public safety. This operation serves as a firm reminder that our officers remain committed to removing criminals and illicit substances from our streets.
