December 19, 2025 • Accidents

More than 400 newly appointed Constables gathered at 35 Squadron in Delft alongside POCC, Flying Squad, Mounted Unit, Metro Police, City of Cape Town LEAP officers, SSIU, and Department of Home Affairs immigration officers.

This morning parade is part of the national Safer Festive Season campaign aimed at ramping up visible policing through patrols, stop-and-searches in hotspot areas, roadblocks, and the tracing of wanted suspects.

Present at the parade were the Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, the Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General (Advocate) Thembisile Patekile, the Western Cape Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Luyanda Damoyi, as well as District Commissioners and Station Commanders.

Lt Gen Patekile welcomed the newly fledged Constables and all present at the parade. He emphasised that the aim is to ensure that everyone in South Africa is safe and protected, including visitors, bearing in mind that we live in a democratic society where everything must be done without infringing on the rights of citizens.

The Deputy National Commissioner, in her address, urged the parade to go out and make South Africa proud. She said the purpose is very clear: the focus areas have increased from seven to eleven. In the midst of extortion, gang violence, CIT robberies, and pavement robberies, she emphasised that police are not there for speeches or to parade in front of cameras, but to do the work diligently, with focus and professionalism.
