Two taxi drivers arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in the Edenvale area.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Edenvale Precinct Officers, arrested two (2) taxi drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol in the Edenvale area.
During patrol, Officers stopped the drivers at Baker Road and again on Laurie road for routine driver and vehicle fitness checks. Upon interacting with the drivers, Officers detected a strong smell of alcohol and conducted a breathalyser tests, which confirmed both were over the legal limit.
The suspects aged thirty-eight (38) and forty-five (45) were taken to a healthcare facility for blood sampling and later detained at the Edenvale Police Station. They are expected to appear at the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court soon.
